Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of characters who will split off from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group understands precisely where to go next after a intense first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose death initiated the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
Casimir then settled his debts and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, wants retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and warns that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as key figures in the powerful family could enable the group enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in search of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Seekers and Planners groups.
